You and QR Codes
You will be seeing these symbols that look like mazes, if you haven’t already, at the GSA Training Conference & Expo. What are they?
Well, they are called QR Codes.
A QR code (Quick Response Code) enables a mobile phone to scan data and immediately capture information. The code provides easier access to websites, contact information, calendar entries, images, text, maps, and more! Using your mobile device's camera and a QR reader application (a “reader app”), you can scan and instantly get information. Below is a QR code sample:
· At the GSA Flagship – so you may access digital publications (PDFs) or register for specific buying interests
· In the GSA training rooms – so you may access an electronic copy of the training presentations
· At the GSA Publications booth – so you may access hundreds of publications (PDFs) or order a hard copy
· At the GSA Interact Central booth – where you may get assistance on using QR codes, and obtain information on GSA social media offerings from the Federal Acquisition Service
QR Reader Applications on Government Mobile Devices. You'll need a QR reader application to be able to scan QR codes. For government-owned mobile devices, GSA refers you to your organization's policy on downloading and using free applications on mobile devices.
Installing QR Code Reader. GSA does not endorse or recommend a specific QR code reader. Most mobile devices have an application marketplace, store or world that allows users to search and download free applications. Search "QR" in your device's application marketplace, store or world, and download a QR reader application following the user prompts.
